Backpacking the ark ouachita mts in the flatside wilderness area. the morning temp is 8f. using a wb blackbird hammock, mw4 uq, small ti goat stove. the shelter i made with 1.1 silnylon and fibergl.... The titanium goat 6.5 vertex and stove is the only way i would want to go out if i had my choice. do i feel spoiled? a little, but i know i will want to get out even more if the stay is easier on the body. also, having a heated shelter like this makes winter outings more inviting to those who normally would not consider it.. The vertex 5 is sized just right for two people and a small amount of gear. it can be ordered with or without the versa-port for use with a stove..
I looked at the ti goat and mld superlight which looked superb but in the end decided to go with a borah gear bivy. first look - tramplite shelter. popular posts. myog cuben fiber shelter. first look - borah gear custom bivy.. The 2nd version used a ti-goat damper plate which sets on the stove top to keep the pipe from sliding into the stove. this also has a screened fitting that inserts into the stove pipe and actually extends into the stove.. Obviously it's much bigger than my buddies ti goat, but it also has added features that came standard and some of which are not even options on the ti goat. for an ultra light two-person mountain shelter, the lbo simply kicks ass..
